Week 3 - ITF ($25K) - Orlando, USA Clay

There was a LL spot in the MD, but Katie didn't get it.
In the doubles, 6-4 *2-0

Pretty good win in doubles - Katie also did sign in for the LL spot, so I'm concluding injury was not really the absolute cause of the loss in singles, just ABDATO.
R16: Swan/Ruse (GBR/ROU) defeated Ferrando/Rodriguez (ITA/MEX) [4] 4-6 1-6
QF: Swan/Ruse (GBR/ROU) v. Whoriskey/Neel (USA/USA)

I don't think the injury helped her, but I'm glad to see that it was not bad enough to stop her competing in the doubles and indeed trying for the LL place.

Katie & Elena Gabriela have subsequently given a walkover for their QF.
It may be the case that the injury, or niggle, for which Katie had treatment in her singles, felt OK enough to finish the match, and also play the doubles on Tuesday, but flared up, or failed to respond sufficiently favourably over night, even with the free day to rest it, necessitating a precautionary withdrawal. Or, the stakes of a $25K doubles QF weren't adjudged to offer a worthwhile risk/reward outcome.

In this case fortunately, well for Katie anyhow, I think the withdrawal was because of her partner who withdrew in the third set of her singles match yesterday.
