Naomi is just gifting the match away. The number of easy errors she is making on Kvd's serve is amazing. Feel like the pressure is really getting to her.

If this was in the first round of a 60k itf think Naomi would have won comfortably.

Naomi breaks again to win 6-3 in the 3rd.

A great fighting win in tough conditions and certainly not the result I expected early in the third set.

Katie has broken back in the second set to level at 5-5 - showing a good fighting spirit I think.

Hopefully Katie is OK? Just ran out of steam? Kayla is the benchmark in terms of the type of girl she is going to have to beat to really make some progress this year. The potential to do that is there and merely following the scores it looks like Katie gave it a real go.

Naomi's QR2 match is 2nd on Court 14 following on from C Harrison vs P Polansky men's QR2 match, so almost certainly after midnight GMT.

... except I gather not a lot's been happening because it's raining. Not gathered from the Australian Open website by the way ( seemingly unimportant "news" ) which seems to merely indicate that none of the opening matches have any score. Oh it's maybe buried somewhere.
