I suppose it does at least mean we have a guaranteed quarter-finalist.

Go Tiran.  What a result and a fantastic way to get your first ranking point.  Well played young man.  I know one board member here who will be especially pleased when he sees this result.

I'd still like to know more about who Tiran is, apart from the fact that he can obviously play a bit, if someone could provide some info please!!! confuse

I'm not sure what you want to know. Just turned 19.

Saw him play at Shrewsbury. Looks a decent player. Looks older than he is(big build and balding)

And he's Sikh, if that's of any relevance. And has a beard. (Priesty, I think, it was said he was an instant fan of any tennis player who's not yet twenty and already had a beard and going bald smile)

I know he played no junior events which also always sort of endeared him to me. Played a lot of British Tour if you want to look up his results there.

Thanks to both of you, yes, that was exactly the kind of info I was looking for! I don't normally follow the men's British Tour results, though see now he won two tournaments there last year, and I had checked his ITF profile which provides zero information and thus told me he had no junior record too, which did then make him a mystery player for me, especially getting these type of results here, including now winning against the WR 582! And indeed his background is fascinating, and wish him well...

He certainly looks more mature than just 19... Never knew about him, quite brilliant results. When does he play Jonny Gray?

Today after Ryan Storrie, who is a set down but a break up in the second.

Tomorrow!  Rain (I presume) stopped play as Ryan was on the verge of taking the second set to level the match (4-6 *5-3).  Only one match completed today.

Ryan had a bit of a battle to hold his service in the ninth gam, but he got there in the end:  6-3.  Level pegging.  smile
