I notice she has changed rackets from Babolat to DunlopSrixon... wonder if that's made a difference.

That's interesting. According to my son she was using a Babolat Pure Strike before, which is a bit lacking in power (Cam Norrie was using the same racket). Maybe the racket change has helped Heather.

Yes, that's right. I have used Pure Strikes for about 4 years now. Suits my game but I was surprised to see Heather using them.

Heather started her career, and had her best success with Dunlop.

When she looked to develop her game, primarily by adding power, she moved to Babolat, and a set up that at times was infuriatingly similar to Rafa's, with full poly strings!

It never really suited her; hopefully the return can help her get her groove back. If the promising match winning start to this year is any indication, perhaps, in some part, it already has.

The queen of Hobart keeps (steam) rolling on, what a great result and apologises to any Australian republicans out there for the tittle no offence intended. I thing she is aspiring to Tasmanian Devil status a very good run thus far from qualys, so pleased for her.

Along with Evo she is a guilty pleasure so much potential yet to quote Forest Gump when watching Hev Life is like a box of chocolates. This week she is marching down Quality Street !!!!

Hopefully some more good stuff left in the tin! More please Hev, more!

Hev is more than capable of beating the overranked Mertens.

Was a ridiculous match. Won first 11 games playing sublime tennis then Vekic just started hitting out and if she had held to make it 5 all in second set I would not have fancied Heathers chances!!

Super!
That's Heather's first SF away from grass since Monterrey in Feb. 2016 (she did rather well there ) - she made the SF of Eastbourne last year, and Surbiton ITF $100K last year, but both were on grass.

She has also had a better points scoring opening two weeks of her season now than her opening three months of last year (counting her guaranteed 10 points at least for AO R128 participation)
