Week 1 - ITF ($25K) - Playford, Australia - Hard

With lots of good players down under for AO qualifying next week, this is a very strong $25K; Laura's opponent is inside the top 200, and isn't even seeded.

R32: Laura ROBSON (GBR) 228 v. Ipek SOYLU (TUR) 198 (CH 151, Oct. 2016)

Doubles
In some ways, on current trajectories, Laura is probably the partner of lesser stature in her pairing with the highly promising 17 year old.
R16: Robson/Andreescu (GBR/CAN) [2] 274 v. Eguchi/Ponchet (JPN/FRA) 721

Tough but if Laura is going to make it back in 2018, she should be winning matches like this.

I watched the last few games of this and they nearly blew a strong lead in the second set, but got through, thank goodness.

Here we go then, the Robson roller-coaster departs the station once more.
Hopefully a good omen (I'm reaching here - every little helps), Laura is the lucky seventh Brit lady to begin her year in singles. Last year that honour, also went to Laura... Deigman, who went on to have an excellent year and... erm...

Let's go Laura! This year you WILL remember all those things you have forgotten, you will find substantive and lasting answers to tennis problems and let your talent shine again. Please?
*2-0

Stays in set 2 by breaking back for a second time; this time, to love, 6-2 *5-5
