3 more break points saved by Katie. This is closer than the scoreboard looks. Katie now 4-1

cruised home in the end 2-6 6-1 6-1.

She could have lost her serve several times in the last two sets so that's an impressive scoreline

Katie wins (after an absolutely shocking start) 2-6, 6-1, 6-1

Great to see both Katie and Naomi get their seasons (and points totals) up and running.

Good luck both in next matches

WHOA!

QR1: (ALT) Suzy LARKIN (GBR) 710 v. Deborah CHIESA (ITA) 191 (CH 190, Nov. 2017)
What a great break for Suzy.

She's making good use of it so far, too! *5-1

1 set each. Can Suzy pull off what may be the most unlikely GB win of 2018, even when it's done?

Well, that was rather exciting, whilst it lasted. Suzy actually went a break up in the decider, but ultimately, suffers GB women's first loss of 2018 season.
Hard to know what we can expect from Suzy this year. She seems to be still on her massively long Asia/Oceania tour then - it is to be supposed that one doesn't just pop up in New Zealand during it's one women's tennis event of the year by mere chance.
Will she be able to find her considerable mojo once more, or become another Mirabelle, mired in the gfaint echo of promise of past achievements?
She is at least always doing different things to the rest of our pack, and so is a welcome interest, a break from the norm as we follow her on her travels.
6-3 2-6 1-6

How wonderfully random that Suzy ended up here. She can't have expected to make the draw with her ranking surely?
