Oops!

It's almost been blink and you'd miss it in set 2!
Serving for a place in the final, 6-4 *5-1

SF: Anna SMITH/Nicole MELICHAR (GBR/USA) 102 (55 + 47) defeated Nadiia KICHENOK/Anastasia RODIONOVA (UKR/AUS) 104 (51 + 53) 6-4 6-1

When Anna & Nicole won the WTA title in Nuremburg earlier in the year, there was essentially nothing in the British press about it at all, and nothing on the BBC etc.
So, if anyone who uses Twitter wants to send a strong nudge to the likes of: David Law, the BBC, Russell Fuller, Catherine Whittaker, Mike Dickson, Stuart Fraser, Barry Flatman etc
to get Anna a deserved mention, feel free to do so.

Edit: lazy copy/pasta corrections

Looking at their twitter pages, it's all about Federer/Nadal and Konta. Not even a mention of Heather and Naomi.

Ps you might want to edit the round.

Anna + Nicole have had a great year together. I'm hoping they continue their partnership into next year too. Doubles needs more press in general!

A wonderfully convincing win for Anna and Nicole biggrinbiggrin And as noted earlier the 305 points gained each thus far really do now propel them upwards individually and as a pair. Anna is now provisionally at a CH of 47 - first time in the top 50, and likewise Nicole a CH of 39, first time in the top 40. And that new provisional collective rank of 86 jumps them nearly 20 places upwards from their entry rank for this week - and that will not only start to gain them entries to most WTA tournaments, but also seedings too. The rank of the #4 seeds this week was 84.... So just the final to win now!! smilesmile

Better and better  biggrin

Thinking about possible candidates including such a specialist as Sarah Borwell the only other top 50 British woman doubles player I can find, on checking ITF CHs for players around in the last 10 years or so, is Heather with a CH 45 from 2013. Not swearing that I've not missed someone though.

So Anna may be getting close to the highest ranked Brit for a long time.

I watched Anna & Jo Larsson play Hlavackova & Lucie Hradecka in the old 75k at Shrewsbury a fair few years ago, with Anna & Jo winning in a MTB.

The final is today, starting at 10:00 UK time, which is a bit inconvenient, but there you go.

Wonder what's going on with Joss?

Joss has been working with the LTA at Loughborough this week, at the 10&U Inter-Regional Camp.

I don't know if it's a permanent direction, or just a one-off.

And go, Anna !
