Katy Dunne and Katie Swan should be in the main draw. It seems Eden Silva has got there too, as she is not in qualifying, though there are still higher ranked players than her in qualifying...

Eden can't be into the main draw on ranking since the q2 and q3 seeds are ahead of her on the qualifying list so unless she has somehow got a MD WC she's not playing.

Eden has said before that, given her surname, many people there can't believe that she's not Portuguese - so maybe the organisers got confused too and gave her a wildcard.....

She was not happy at having to play at 35 degrees in October in rnd 1 last week and faded badly in the next match, so may be injury or illness.

No luck for our two against the better ranked players:

QR2: Lily GHODRATI (GBR) UNR, 18yrs, lost to (Q3) Lou BROULEAU (FRA) 568 (CH:329 Feb 16) 2-6 2-6

QR2: Emilie LINDH GALLAGHER (GBR) UNR, 17 yrs, lost to (Q6) Lucia BRONZETTI (ITA) 689, 18 yrs, 4-6 4-6

I'm not sure why Lily persists in playing at this level. I've seen her a few times and at her current level, I don't see her winning a point, never mind 3 lots of points.

Portuguese qualifiers turns out to be a complete washout... :(

QR2: (Q7) Alicia BARNETT (GBR) 698 lost to Nandini SHARMA (IND) UNR (born 1999) 7-6(6) 6-4

The prediction of the week award goes to CD!

Koelzer was ahead of Eden on the entry list but lacking an appropriate name she has had to come through qualifying

Given that Koehler is Portuguese, Koelzer must be a bit miffed wink

Well done, Eden - whatever it takes, whatever it takes smile

And congrats to Katie Swan and partner who, by a whisker, manage to break the run of losses out there, winning their dubs, 11-9 in the MTB

Ms. Dunne is underway against Bejenaru, 0-1*

The Romanian has been Brit-basher-in-chief this year, with the record standing at 1-7; all of the losses in straight sets.
7 is the most Brit-bashes by any single pesky in 2017, and is the sole record holder, two clear of the next group of players with 5.
Interestingly though, we are 1-0 against her here in Obidos, as that is where we scored our solitary success; in week 13 as Olivia prevailed 7-5 in the third.
All the defeats came in GB events, both early season and then again on the grass.

Hoping for some redress in short order, then; despite that start...
