With so far very few withdrawals in the lists since they came out, TennisForum is currently showing Naomi as 4th alt for the US Open MD and Katie B as 8th alt for qualifying.

With Timea Bacsinszky out due to injury Naomi is up to 3rd alt for the main draw.

And with in particular some MD WCs announced ( including one for Maria Sharapova! ) Katie B has jumped up to 2nd alt for qualifying.

The ITF list shows Suzy Larkin as yesterday having withdrawn from Japan 25K qualifying.

So it looks like after 15 successive weeks ( China 9, S Korea 2, Thailand 4 ) she may well be having at least a whole week off.

Azerenka now unlikely to play in USO because of her son and domestic problems. Strong chance for both Naomi and Katie B now

Yes, just read that. The MD WCs have gone to Fritz, Coric, Gulbis and Chrysochos ( described by the tournament as "the best player in college tennis last year" ).

Don't know if Kyle sought a MD WC or actually welcomes an opportunity to play some qualifying matches.

Non of our guys seem to be in the qualies draw. Does anyone know what's happened to them?

Cam was clearly the best male player in college tennis last year, although TCU lost to wake forest in March, Cam dispatched Chrysochos in straight sets I think it was 6-2 6-3 from memory anyway by no means a battle. But arguably he is the best player left in collehe tennis, a year behind Cam ie only moving into his junior year now and was ranked 1 at the time he lost to cam.

Entries for challengers are for main draw only. Anyone outside the entry list is not compelled to turn up and will not get penalised.

Ed is playing Portugal ITF, Jay is training, no idea about Alex.
