A new name for me, what on earth is the ethnicity of this chap?  1/4 Thai 1/4 Korean 1/4 Polish 1/4 American???

His mother is of Vietnamese origin (hence the Thai-Son) and his father is half-Polish (hence the Kwiatkowski) / half-Vietnamese. Either or both may have been born in the US though (I'm not sure), Thai-Son definitely was, in North Carolina. His parents met at UVa, which is where he ended up being a very successful college player too.

Oakland seems to have jinxed Brydan's chances:

Brydan was always the underdog here, having fewer national identities to draw upon during the match.

Liam gets the SE and will face a qualifier in R1 but will likely have to play top seed Dudi Sela if he makes the 2nd round.

With him making US Open Qualifying and having been playing quite a bit he maybe decided better to take this week off.

Ah, so that's why they decided to Thai their Son with such a name wink

Shapovalov has withdrawn which seems wise given his run in Montreal.
