And I hope he's not on course to meet his conqueror from the last 2 weeks. It's been a bit of a Basso Continuo...

Andrea Basso is in the other half of the draw to Jay so they couldn't meet before the final. And Basso has lost the last two weeks' finals after beating Jay in the SFs so maybe he's not as good in finals.

3 more wins to get to the final and break into the 200s.

Yes getting to the final would certainly get that job done. Even 2 more wins and the SF might. 10 points ( net 8 ) here would take Jay to 166 points which looks like it would probably be pretty borderline for top 300 / 200s.

I sense that Jay has not been quite playing to his ranking in these Italian clay events but they look a good development tool. So R2 might be another pretty tight one.

I think that 250 would be a realistic objective for Mr. Clarke by year's end.

Especially since Virgili is on a 6-match winning streak, having won a 25K in France two weeks ago.

Jay is going to have to do it the hard way again, having lost the first set 4-6.

NB Agree with Indy that clay probably is not Jay's best surface for point scoring but provide excellent work from a developmental point of view.
