It is the first time I can remember WTA Eastbourne qualifying starting on a Friday rather than Saturday. As a result all those in qualifying (Gabi, Harriet, Katie S and Katy D) can in theory qualify and play a main draw match (R1 scheduled Sun/Mon) before Wimbledon qualifying sign-in. I don't see any sign of Tara though in the qualifying draw. Men's qualifying is still Saturday/Sunday though, so there's a potential problem for whoever gets the qualifying WCs if they are due to play Wimbledon qualifying

This week also saw the hosting of the world Island Games.

Congratulations to Jersey's Stuart Parker who took gold in the singles, teamed up with Michael Watkins to take gold in the doubles and Jersey also took the men's team gold.

(Stuart is the guy who plays tennis mainly in France, a friend of Scott Clayton and they both play for the same French team in league tennis. He's a good player, certainly capable of getting some ITF level points, but don't know what his project is).
