week 24 - ITF ($100K) - Didsbury, Manchester, UK Grass

MB Ola will now play Alicia for a FQR place - that's nice rankings points on offer for one or the other !

If Alicia gets the points she would leapfrog Laura into Steven's GB top 25 Women's Table

Aleksandra would have a first counter as her points from last year at Surbiton have dropped off

Alicia &, doubly so, Aleksandra, deserve all the plaudits for their efforts. Well done.

Yes. As does Olivia Peet whose achievement is pretty much equally good (although unfortunately against a British player)

Emily was a set down, 0-3* down in the 2nd set and *0-4 down in the 3rd but is now *5-3 up in the final set tiebreak!

Em grafts out a 3-6 7-5 7-6(4) over Olivia N

Very good from Olivia, who I have been surprised hasn't had more success in singles to date, to get into such positions against Em on grass, but outdone in the end.

A mixture of well done and commiserations.

8 breaks of serve in that final set. Em won one point less than Olivia in the match. Very good effort from Olivia, hopefully the wins (and ranking points) will come soon

I've seen Hannah a few times. Perfect game for grass, but I get the impression she has problems closing out games.
Beth should not have lost to Olivia Peet, not sure what happened there.
Sam Murray will be our best chance of qualifying.

I saw Naiktha play two years ago and wasn't blown away, far from it. Although, to be fair, two years is quite a long time ago for a 19 year-old.
But, yes, hopefully Sam can print her stamp on the match quickly.

After two matches today, Alicia will probably be a bit tired.
But Sanchez has not won many matches recently - pretty much straight first round losses since February.
And I saw her play on grass at Wimbly qualis and it was a pretty ungainly sight - she may have done some practice since but she was REALLY not enjoying the grass.

Em's opponent has been playing 15ks in Portugal to pick up points, and doing well. But they're only 15ks.

Good luck all three !
