Just see Ed has tweeted saying he has been given a WC into Queens Qualies.

Can't believe they gave a WC to James Ward, bizarre decision. Yeh I know he's had a break from the tour but it's not like he showed any sort of form in the 18 months prior to that..

From Stu Fraser on Twitter
Main draw wild cards for James Ward, Cameron Norrie & Thanasi Kokkinakis. Qualies wild cards for Liam Broady, Ed Corrie & Denis Shapovalov.

Surprised James doesnt prefer to play himself back in at Ilkley instead, he could easily get eaten alive at Queens.

Good to see Shapavolov get a QWC at Queens, getting disqualified v GB in DC helped his commercial profile it seems -

Queens is a 'local' club for James. He's always liked to play there. His dad comes to watch. And he's often played well there. There was always a good chance he'd get a wildcard.
I wish him luck.....

Yes, point taken re that but just at this moment James could be left very undercooked for Wimbledon qualies the following week. A Q WC is surely his best hope for Wimbledon.

But as someone ( maybe yourself, CD ) said regarding Jay's challenger MD WCs and my thoughts that he was lacking matches, these MD WCs can be difficult to turn down, and there is the short term financial aspect and that's much more applicable to Queen's.

Moore, Robson and Swan have all withdrawn from Ilkley, and are presumed wildcarded into Birmingham.

This is also the week of the Wimbledon WC Play-Offs.

I suspect they are getting qualifying wildcards only.

I saw on twitter that Katie Swan had been awarded a QWC to Birmingham, but waiting to see official confirmation

Therefore Freya, Harriet and Gabi are playing Ilkley. Not sure who has the other wildcard EWS?.

Aljaz made the main draw at Queens so is playing there instead of Halle.

I'll bet he wishes he'd stuck to Halle now.  He has just drawn Murray in R1.

Looking at the five week rankings, Andy is only a short head in front of Rafa now. In essence, if Rafa outstrips Andy at Wimbledon he will take over as number one; however, if Andy and Rafa fail to reach the semis, a win for Stan or Novak could see them take number one. Should make things interesting.
