RE: Wimbledon wildcards 2017 - Women

Thanks for clearing that up Indiana - hopefully she will be added to the list before the qualifying starts, and hopefully we will get at least one woman through qualifying.

Not sure if Tara has been overlooked for a MDWC or if it's a wait and see on her injury after retiring last week. Pleased to see Katie Boulter get a MDWC

I think it is discouraging for the younger girls that all the main draw wild cards are not used and disagree with one choice who has got one .

Who do you disagree with Hoots? I have to say I agree with all the decisions made on both men's and women's with the exception of James in the men's. QWC instead on MDWC and that's exactly how I would have gone.

Can see Katie Boulter getting a lot of media attention as I've mentioned before especially if she wins a round.

If Moore is borderline fitness wise, you'd think an extra week recovery time would be very welcome.

The most disappointing thing for Tara will be that last year she made the main draw and comfortably beat Van Uytvanck here, so despite her ranking she has proved that she can step up to the big occasion - if she is borderline fitness wise, surely it would have been better to give her a wildcard, and then if she pulls out, award it to the next direct acceptance, which is what they often do if not using all 8. Hopefully, anyway, Indiana is right, and they will add her in later, once her fitness if confirmed.

By the way, one question I have on the doubles WCs... The fact that Anna Smith is not there, what that means she would receive a main draw automatic entry, since she is our highest ranked women's doubles player? Because otherwise she can't conceivably be left off this list....

I only hope that they are waiting to see how Tara is with her injury. I agree that if you give Laura one you should give Tara one. Tara's got decent grass pedigree as has been said here.

If she is playing with Melichar they would have a joint ranking of 125 which might place them just be inside the doubles Draw limit anyway.

Yes, that's what I was wondering... and that joint ranking will be higher than that by the end of this week too. I'm assuming that's the reason Anna isn't on the WC list, because you can't give cards to all the other people but not your top ranked doubles player, even if she was not included in the Fed Cup teams...

They can give wild cards to who they wish I would imagine.

OK, it would surely be crazily inappropriate not to give a MD WC to Anna+ if she needed it.  I guess if with Nicole she will make it without need of a WC ( they would I understand have made it into the French Open if they'ed chanced sticking together for that and they are a fair bit better ranked now )
