Week 43 - ATP 500 - Basel, Switzerland - Indoor Hard (doubles)

R1: Dominic Inglot & Florin Mergea (ROU) CR 52 (38+14) vs (WC) Adrian Bossel & Henri Laaksonen (SUI/SUI) CR 1949 (1267+682)

I seem to have it in the back of my mind that someone mentioned a little while ago about Dom getting back with Mergea so this may be more than a one-off. Or just my imagination?

Hi - I think I mentioned it having seen a thread on MTF about new pairings for 2017. Don't always believe MTF though although this seems real. I had thought they split in a little acrimony last year but I guess all is business at the of the day!

According to live rankings it looks like ram and klaasen have secured their place in London.

So do I. He's had enough difficulties this year.

And thank you, JonH, for mentioning Klaasen and Ram's success. What both have achieved is remarkable - all the more so for Klaasen when you consider that he was already seven years old when Nelson Mandela was released from prison and eleven when South Africa held its first democratic elections. There's an interview where he talks about his parents and says: "They come from a different time in South Africas history and when you see their desire and passion for me to keep playing and reach my goals, it really motivates me to go on and achieve even more." (www.iol.co.za/sport/tennis/raven-has-finally-come-home-to-roost-2024480) He has done just that. Well done.

Totally agreed, and although he isnt playing here in Basle it is also great to see Gael Monfils tie up a singles slot in London - he will be great for the live and TV audiences and am so pleased he has made the finals!
