6-1, 6-4, and a ranking point, at third time of asking (she played a couple of qs as a 14yo)

Good stuff

On the same day as Ewen Lumsden (dob 17/02/00) becomes the youngest current British guy to have a ranking point ( and clearly a ranking in his case ) Fran (dob 19/09/00) becomes the youngest British girl to have a ranking point, taking over from Ali Collins.

Saw a nice picture of Fran with one of the Ad-in Tennis academy coaches, Dani Navarro, after her success in the juniors.

Don't know who's with her this week.

Doubt it's him - rather reckon he'd be up at RG.

Dani N was also coaching a couple of his squad at the WTA event in Bogota recently - it must be great for both coach and player to be part of a team effort like that.

And Maria Sakkiri, WR 110 approx, is certainly doing very well under their care.

Good luck to Fran, and her team.

Double that. 2 doubles points for Fran; and a guaranteed GB SFist, as Fran+ draw Mirabelle+

Thanks for posting the video: Fran is an inspiration good luck to her, although it appears she has the will to make her own!!

A very impressive young lady.

No, it's actually just 1 point for a women's doubles 10K QF. Points go 1/4/7/12 rather than as I used to also think 2/4/7/12.

Mini-Fran gives a decent account in the first set - about a point a game off the pace set by the (now with updated rankings) WR 629.
2-6

Yes. That set took about 46 mins. Closer than the score shows.

Finally loses 2-6 3-6 cry

As ISF pointed out this was about 1 point per game. Francesca gave away 12 DF vis her opponents 3 - more than half the difference.

A highly impressive debut week for Francesca comes to a close in singles (still in doubles later - against Mirabelle) with a useful showing against a solid $10K exponent.
Plenty, I imagine, for her excellent coaching setup to get their teeth in to and work on.
The training video Sanchez-Casals posted last year shows some already tasty looking groundstrokes.
Good start, may there be much more to come in due course

R2: (Q) Francesca JONES (GBR) UNR lost to Audrey ALBIE (FRA) [5] 584 2-6 3-6

I think the DF might also help explain the low 2nd serve % (29%); looks like she has a big serve, and possibly goes for two first serves quite a lot rather than playing safe to avoid DF.
