OK, a scratch pairing, but even so... disbelief

Goodness. That's a surprising loss, unless one of them is injured. My recollection is that van Rijthoven has a massive serve (have I got the right player?) but, as you say, even so ...

Hope things are all right.

Bugger, bugger, bugger!

R1:  Philipp Petzschner & Alexander Peya (GER/AUT) CR 68 (45+23) defeated (3) Jamie Murray & Daniel Nestor (CAN) CR 13 (2+11) by 6-2 5-7 [10-8]  bleh

OK, a scratch pairing, but... disbelief  Up to Dom (& Robert) now.    At least there'll be no danger of divided loyalties. hmm

Jamie was lucky that it went to a MTB. I think they took that second set winning at least four, possibly five games on the trot. They were always down in the MTB though.

edit: perhaps Rio next week and then Sao Paolo both without Jamie at a guess?

Not very helpful to what looked ( and still looks if slightly less) a realistic chance of Jamie being WR 1 post Miami ( after the Aussie Open, taking off the net points both he and Melo had to defend up to and including Miami, Jamie came out 50 ahead ). Melo is playing here with Dodig.

Yes, doesn't look like Jamie wanted to go to Brazil. He's playing Dubai with Robredo of all the players.

For what it's worth, Jamie's ex-partner and Mr Kontinen performed useful service and beat Messrs Dodig and Melo in the QFs.

And Nicolas Mahut & Vasek Pospisil removed the fourth seeds, Bops & Mergea, in three sets to clear the bottom half of the draw of seeds.

And the bloody Austro-German pair does for our other representative as well!

QF:  Philipp Petzschner & Alexander Peya (GER/AUT) CR 68 (45+23) defeated Dom Inglot & Robert Lindstedt (SWE) CR 52 (27+25) by 6-3 4-6 [10-4]  furious

Thank you gentlemen. Jamie preserves a lead over Melo in the race to post Miami, though down to just 5 points, and of course others might have a say.

Pity to see Dom+ bite the dust as well.
