So what?  This is a forum for the discussion of British tennis players.  Up & coming he may be, but he's French & doesn't merit a dedicated thread! disbelief

i disagree it was interesting following busta's rise into the top 100. I am interested also to follow Halys' rise

I've moved the thread to "General Tennis Discussion" - as it surely doesn't belong in "British Men" section. So those interested in him can still follow the thread without it cluttering up the wrong section.

Only posting this here because I knew there was a dedicated thread to the man.

Gary, aka A1, was not wrong (see start of thread) - as in, a couple of years ago, there was general agreement that teenager Halys was THE next best thing since sliced bread.

And he's ranked 133 which is not bad for a 21 year-old.

But today he lost in the first round of the RG qualis.

(and - not surprisingly - there's been a bit of uproar as to why he didn't get a main draw wildcard in the first place but, then, he has had one practically every year before).

Just to note that the path is never smooth and many of the young 'stars' take longer than expected to make it or, indeed, never quite make it at all.
