Mirabelle needs that final point as she has no national ranking.
Hope she will get a decent draw.

Not bad :)

With 4 points from 2 counters, Mirabelle will get a ranking ( certainly quite well within the top 1200 ) if she can win her R1 match.

Many hundreds less women ranked than men and that 1200 level represents women with just a few points ( the minimum 3 in Chalaganidze's case, which as we've seen with some players may be indicative of very little ).

Mirabelle, I rather suspect though, will be going a lot higher before too long.

That draw couldn't have been much better.

I've checked(this time!!!) Wessel's recent form and it doesn't account for much.

Mirabelle is into a dog-fight to get her first WTA ranking.

Lost the first set 6-7(4). Won the second 6-4. Now 3*-2 up in the third. Mirabelle up on points but looks very close . . .

Mirabelle serves out the match to get herself a WTA ranking (5 points from 3 events, all as a qualifier too, no WC points)

With Robbo ( temporarily I hope !!!! ) leaving the rankings after the Aussie Open we needed a newbie to keep the numbers up.

PS :  I see that Lisa Whybourn is back to 2 counters now so hopefully not long until her and Laura will be back onboard.
