Supposedly Gadliev (who Robbie beat, taking it right to the line) has only been playing tennis for 3 years . . .

I do wonder sometimes whether these ITF "At what age did you start playing?" questions are often taken to mean "At what age did you start playing seriously, e.g. ITF junior or senior events," especially by those whose first language isn't English.

I know what you mean (what age did you play your first 'pro' match ? Your first ITF match?). See the guy on the other thread this week who's 37 and supposedly started playing tennis at age 36 . . . .

Mind you, I know some guys who were excellent sportsmen/women in other fields who started tennis mid-teens (or later) and just rocketed. And it wasn't just other racquet sports either (in fact, probably best not to be). There's a big similarity, for instance between a volleyball serve and a tennis serve.

I rather like the 'romance' of the idea of the late starter - I'd certainly be rooting for the 37 year-old if he weren't pplaying a Brit . . .

However, Imran's just beaten him 6-0 6-0 so maybe he did truly only pick up a racket twelve months ago . . .

Aswin is 4-6 0-2 down.

Robbie leading 4*-3, 0-30 down, in the second

But possibly rains has stopped play - all the gizmos seems to have frozen
