Week 34 - ATP 250: Winston-Salem Open, Winston-Salem, NC (hard) - doubles

Colin's trying his hand at singles again.  Wonder who his partner will be in the doubles...

QR1:  Sekou Bangoura (USA) WR 535 vs Colin Fleming UNR

Needless to say, they've never met, but if he gets through that (KO 15.00 BST), he'll have to play his QR2 against the q4, Damir Dzumhur (WR 117), later in the day... bleh

Colin, after going a break down & retrieving it, loses the first set in the tie-break, 1-7. hmm

I suspect given the lack of success for Ross, he may well split with Colin and either retire or play as and when he wants. His ranking won't allow him into many tour events.

And then there was one (Brit):  Colin & Ross beaten earlier & Dom & TCH appear to have withdrawn & their place taken by alternates (Mergea & Sousa).  cry

The reason given on the draw sheet for Dom's & TCH's withdrawal is "abdominal" (Dom).  Hope it's just a slight strain or something & nothing serious enough to prevent them from playing in the USO.

Mergea & Sousa (CR 191) proceeded to defeat González & Marach in three, while Jamie & John are now the only seeds left in the draw, Marrero & Paes (1) having retired at a set down against Groth & the Gooch & Bops & Nestor (2) having been beaten in two tie-breaks by Cabal & Farah...
