RE: European League Club Tennis

Dan Cox has also been playing League tennis this last month (same pre-national division as Allemby I think but in a completely different region).

he had a really easy match on the 6th, winning his singles and doubles, and the whole team won.

He also played last Sunday, again winning his singles and doubles no problem, but the team finding it a bit more tricky - however they won 4-2

(Boggo is technically in the same team but doesn't seem to be playing)

His team, with Dan in it, are the strongest in Poule A and so should make the play-offs for going up to the national division.

The next match is not till 8th May so don;t know if he intends playing when back from Asia. I'd expect so.

Mirabelle Njoze, currently ranked 159 in the ITF junior rankings, lead her club's first women's team today. They're a reasonably small club and play in Division 1 of their regional league. They'd won their pool and were playing in the semi-finals of the play-offs, which they won 3-1. They now go through to the final to play-off for going up to the pre-national league.

Mirabelle won 6-2 6-0 against a woman ranked a good few ranks below her.

The final is next week. Good luck to them all.

James Allemby won his match and James' team (Rognac) won their semi 4-0 !

James again played number 2 (team of four) and won 4-6 6-4 6-1, against a guy ranked lower than him, but, who cares . . . he won.

They are into the final of the pre-national division, (top regional level), on 1st May - the winner will go up to National Division 4.

Josh Goodall played for his club this weekend, in National League Division 4.

He plays as number one and won his match against an OK ranked player (but a lot lower than Josh), but with a bit of luck: 2-6 5-1 retirement.

He also won his doubles; the team won 5-1

In the regional final of the pre-nationals, James Allemby's team won 4-2 and will now go up to National League Division 4 next year. There will be major celebrations!

(Unfortunately James lost his singles to a guy ranked one place lower than him and also lost his doubles match).

Tom Farquharson clocked up the best win (that I've seen) of the Brits in France this weekend.

Playing in National Division 2, Tom plays as number one and, seemingly, beat a well-ranked player (reasonable ITF level), 6-0 6-0. Great result.

He lost the doubles in a MTB but the team won 4-2.

More importantly, really, from our point of view, Tom must be fit and playing well.

Just realised that I missed Matt Short last Sunday who played as the number one player for his team, in the National league, division 3.

Unfortunately, he lost a close match against someone with the same ranking as him. However, him and partner won the doubles and the team won 5-1 (4 singles and 2 doubles)

Thanks PaulM ! Appreciate it. Didn't think of searching for Nik, my mistake.

Nik's team is actually in a really high division, in National division 1B.

She played as number two last weekend and won her singles in two sets and then also won the doubles (and the team won 6-0!!) :) (The other teams look like they might be a bit trickier though)

The GB contingent doing well and bringing the team victories home (well, the other guys probably helped a bit too, but the Brits are 6 out of 6 today):

Results so far 11/5 from French League tennis, including Dan Cox in action:

Dan Cox - victory 6-1 6-1 against a low ranked player. And a win in the doubles. Team won 4-2, so they needed Dan's points.

Josh Goodall - victory 6-4 6-4 against a low ranked player, but he won. And won his doubles. And the team drew 3-3 so at least Josh got them the one point

Nik Slater - victory 6-3 7-6 against a reasonable ranked player. And won the doubles. Team won 5-1

NB

And add Marcus (who I hadn't even looked up as I thought he wasn't playing French club tennis any more???)

Anyway, last weekend he thrashed a well-ranked player 6-3 6-0. And won his doubles. The team won 4-2.

He didn't play this week - and the team lost 6-0 ! Marcus, they need you . . .

Jack Carpenter is also on their list of players but hasn't played yet.

AND also add Alex Slabinsky !!!

Lost last weekend (both matches) but won today in the singles against a good player. ANd his doubles.

Lord, and after finding Slabbers again, here's the GB-Team-in-France - with Dave Rice, George Coupland, and two other Brits: Burnham Arlidge and Chris Priddle (who they?)

Seriously, there's barely a Frenchman in the team. Curious to know how the team talks and coaching takes place - in ENglish, I'm guessing.

Anyway, today Dave won very easily, George lost a match against a far lower ranked guy, Burnham the same. And Dave Rice and Burnham scraped their doubles, George just lost his. Team lost 2-4

(Last week Dave and George didn't play and the other two lost).

About the last (I think, and thank the Lord rings out . . :), Oliver Hudson and Stefan Sterland Markovic also play in a team in Div 3.

Playing as number one, Oliver has got two good wins in singles, last week and this (particularly good win last week).

Stefan has lost both times to far lower ranked players (think Stefan's administrative ranking is a bit high though).

They've played together and won the doubles both weeks though.

And Jamie Feaver too, has two wins in singles and doubles

OK, OK,

And Neil Pauffley has played both weeks too, (despite injury?) . . .

He won his singles and doubles last week. Got the doubles this week but lost the singles (against a decent-ish guy but lower than Neil)
