So sad to see the inevitable further drop for Dan, as last year's R3 US Open points drop off, from WR 89 to now outside the top 100 at WR 108.

That was the US Open where he beat Sascha Zverev in 4 sets to reach R3 where he lost to the WR 3 and eventual champion, Stan Wawrinka, in 5 sets, having had a MP in the fourth set TB.

... and still no news on his punishment?

Does anyone know, does it usually take this long? The only thing I can think is there's some behind the scenes wrangling in mitigation. Otherwise, it seems fairly straightforward.

I'd simply assumed that the tribunal (or whatever they're called) had shut down for summer (like much of Europe).

Oh ok, CD. Most likely explanation. Probably just wishful thinking on my part...I know he's had loads of chances and broken the rules, etc, etc. Just will miss Dan from the tennis scene, and fear he may never properly come back.

Oh, I may well be completely wrong, Nix, I've no idea, it just felt well possible...

And, yes, I will miss Dan too, and don't feel too outraged at all at what he's done (although it was stupid in spades and that sort of makes me cross).

But I feel that he will come back. I think the money will bring him back. (Although might well be wrong there too, of course).

Yes, me too CD. Not outraged, as he wasn't trying to cheat, just being really stupid and yes I was cross too. I saw him at Surbiton and he was kind of almost being the elder statesman, cheering on the younger Brit guys, so it was a shame to see all that go to waste!

Hope you're right and he does come back!

He has always cheered on the other Brits even when he was ranked 700. He has a number of admirable qualities, Villa fan etc just a div. coke snorting and being a professional athlete are not sustainable and obviously something he needs to get sorted in both the short and long term, it would be naive to think that Dan's problem with refuelling/excessive hedonistic recreation is only a recent issue. Hopefully he has time and the inclination to get it right.

What events could Dan still play in to keep his eye in? Everything apart from ITF/ATP ones? So he could play British Tour or French Money tournies etc?

I doubt that very much.  I assume all these tournaments are at least affiliated to the ATP/ITF therefore making him ineligible for ALL tournaments.

I spent this afternoon with a guy from the FFT (in detection and elite training for juniors). Apart from catching up on a lot of gossip (always good), and the new politique under the new president (not so good), I also, as promised, asked him whether someone could play a domestic money tournament if serving a drug suspension.

You are quite right, Bob (and my assumption on the previous page was completely wrong). The French money tournaments come under the international umbrella, all part of the same thing, and therefore no person can take part who is currently banned by the ITF.

So no money tournaments for Evo...

According to Simon Briggs in today's Telegraph, Evo's tribunal is next month. No specific date though.

It's no excuse for Dan but the ESPN report indirectly linked in the Doping thread does make so cross (of course, it may not be completely true, or there may be another side, but to spend so little time/energy on PEDs, despite - seemingly - wide acceptance that it's an issue, but continue to crack down on recreational, non-PED drugs seems to be missing the point of their mandate, to me):
