Julie Ball is a new name to me; any info for us on her CD?

Julie's a youngster, age 16.

I think she's based out in Barcelona at the tennis academy there but I'm not 100% sure .

I've never seen her - and haven't looked her up but I guess she's at the top because she's not played many games (matches) but had a high success rate for those she had i.e. won a few matches 6-0 6-0 and lost a very tight match, say. i.e. probably not statistically relevant reall,y compared to players who've played a lot of matches.

Thanks CD; albeit I was hoping you were going to tell us on good authority that she is the next big thing to look out for! ;)
Hopefully she'll get her match count up soon and keep that percentage :)

I assume they are taking it from singles and doubles

She has played one G5 this year - lost in the QF of the singles and won the doubles

It says that the win rate is just for singles:

"Total games played by all British players, singles and doubles, in ITF-sanctioned matches, plus the win rate for singles games played."

But, yes, as thought, she's only played a few matches, got her wins comprehensively, but lost closely. So the percentage makes sense.

However, if I were doing the table, I think I'd have a minimum number of matches as a cut off point (maybe 6 or 10 - not sure - but not only three - seems too skinny to be useful).

Yes, interesting to look at the individual players statistics. Rather limited amount to gleaned comparatively though given the huge variations in level of tournaments. And as CD indicates even some of the individual statistics are based on very little data.

Just doing next week's GB women's top 25 table and I noticed that when Manisha's Sharm title points come off on Monday week, two players will rejoin the top 25 in 25th= and they'll be rejoining despite the fact that one hasn't played since last August and the other hasn't managed to pick up a point in 9 events this year. Not exactly lots of competition for a place in the GB top 25 at the moment, in other words!

Of those in or in sight of the 13-25 range, only. EWS. |Suzy, Eden, Mirabelle and perhaps Laura D, will post 16 counters. Doesn't leave a lot else - unless somoene gets very lucky cry

At the same time ( on Monday week ) as Laura D and Fran renter the women's top 25 as joint #25 ( despite as Steven says no ranking points earned this year ) Jonny Gray's 6 points will have him into the men's top 25 at #24 with 14 points. Josh Paris will be #25 also on 14 points.

This will result in the men's #25 ( probably in the 930s ) being ranked higher than the women's joint #25 ( probably in the 970s), ending the 24 week run when the women's #25 was ranked higher.

A bit harsh picking on the women, when the men's table includes Dan Coc and Dan Dowson, who have both retired, Scott Clayton who cannot win a singles games and Farris Gosea who is only playing doubles

We seem to have lost the last page (for using the default Oldest First setting) - let's see if posting this brings it back
