Oh. You are one of THOSE people.

Moving on then.

For the record, Rafa only came for Rogers last match. He is injured. His wife is very heavily pregnant and he has gone back home now.

Federer is on player bench chatting to Andy  thought he would be going home.

I was touched at how emotional Rafa was at the end when Roger was speaking etc. obviously good friends and end of an era.

Nadal has a game that is more suited to singles.

But Nadal has won 22 Grand Slam singles titles

He could be half as good as a doubles player and still have won 11 titles.

As Jaggy says, if Nadal had concentrated only on doubles, he would have wrapped up the whole doubles landscape and Jean-Julien Rojer, Horia Tecu, Marcelo Melo, Mahut, Kubot, Pavic etc. etc. would all have been out in the cold. If Andy and Roger and Novak had concentrated only on doubles too, he'd have had a bit more of a problem, but he'd have been right up there

Absolutey spot on assertion there. 100%

I only watched last night because it was Roger and Rafa, cant believe people are moaning about there not being doubles players playing. Jack Sock is surely? And again it returns us to the facts. There wouldnt have been a crowd like that under any circumstances, near empty stadium if it had been doubles players. And if Roger, Rafa, Andy and Novak played doubles regularly its a certainty they would have multiple more slams, in which case the whole argument is null and void.

Nadal is not a doubles player. His limited skills are those of a singles player.

Whatever, well good enough in the past, as documented, to make him a ruddy effective doubles player.

As I've said, I'm not into the Laver Cup as such but I do think it good that Rafa has made such an appearance at Fed's fairwell even if just makes it even more of an exhibition / good bye to Fed event than a serious competitive event. Which of course will be perfectly fine for many.

I note that Cam's having an outing vs Fritz Decisively lost the first set and has just lost an early break advantage in the second set

1-6 2-2*

Fritz eventually won by 6-1 4-6 [10-8].

With Federer and Nadal's one match, and Berrettini and Norrie coming in today, Europe ( with a theoretical team of 6 ) will have used 8 different players in the first 6 singles and yesterday's Fed/Nadal doubles before Djokovic & Berrettini are due to make second appearances in tonight's doubles.

Later edit : as has all basically been said before if I would just read stuff.

Oh dear! You're obviously another of THOSE people who are taken in by blatant fakery!

Hi and welcome Blu_Belle.

This forum is generally an oasis of peace from big issues for and against certain players and related barbs. But you've landed beside some.

I suspect many like me are just trying not to get ivvolved other than occasionally raised eyebrows ( and this is much as I will post on this other than any real factual disagreement ). Silence indicates neither agreement or disagreement, most likely boredom.

Hope you stay around.

Djoko reigned supreme tonight and won singles and doubles. So it is 8-4 to Europe. 3 points per match
Final day so team world will need to win 3 of the 4

Sock has played 3 matches so far.

Day 3 be interesting to see how Europe line up. With Federer and Nadal now out, presumably Djoko will get another outing alongside Berrettini and maybe Tsitsipas? Andy perhaps to play doubles; with Cam or Ruud?

Andy is back in action today but in fact partnering Berrettini as Djoko, Tsitsipas and Ruud play singles. Andy on first at 12 against Sock and FAA

Djoko lost to FAA leaving world up by 10-8. Tiafoe is on the verge of winning against Tsitsipas which would give World the overall win, somewhat surprising and first time ever I believe.

Not that it is particularly important !
