Will probably have someone in the Tampere challenger this week as well, as I think the LTA managed to get a WC in exchange for giving Harri(with Lloyd) one for Queens.

Massive nerdery here, but the W25 in Saskatoon has to be one of the weakest - a rank of 1147 made the MD - and, even better, the 1st direct entry is in the 100s, 2nd in the 200s, 3rd in the 300s, 4th in the 400s and 5th in the 500s......

A flight from London to Saksatoon is from £650, which is not insane I suppose, so slightly surprised more don't make the trip!

Just in case anyone is wondering where some of our lower ranked players are this week, it is the LTA Summer County Cup week. It isn't that easy to find out who is actually playing, but here are links to the players in the Division 1 matches

Mens Division 1 players

Ladies Division 1 players

And the best of luck, playing in these record temperatures. Looks like they are playing two sets and a match-tie-break

Brilliant - thanks, the addict

This is purely doubles, isn't it, as a competition?

Nice to see names of old favourites too, like George Coupland and Neil Bamford

I see Finn Bass, Charlie Broom and Oliver Tarvet are in a fairly loaded Hertfordshire team!

This also explains why there was 1 grass ITF last week for the men and a gap before two more next week and the week after - and for the ladies although they hardcourts become less explicable for them given the week spent here on grass

Yes, purely doubles. Three pairs per team, play each of the other teams pairs on one day, so total of 9 matches. Round-robin (usually in two groups) with semis and final, depending on which division to determine champions, promotion and relegation.

The two groups that play near me are Ladies Divisions 6 and 7, so not a very high standard and probably don't have any players that most of us would know (well those following juniors closely may know some of the names).

The top few groups are actually organised slightly differently to above - there are 6 teams in total in Group One for example, and all 6 teams play each other in a simple league (5 matches over 5 days) with the team winning the most matches/rubbers etc winning the league and title ie no semis and finals - I think it has always worked this way ie just a league of 6 teams and no knockout stage

Group 7  though seems to have 8 teams so not sure if they do it slightly differently as TA explains above - ie two groups of 4 with semis and finals - this would make sense as it is 5 days of play and would align with the Mon-Fri playing schedule
