Doping scandal hits the wheelchair game

WHEELCHAIR DOPING BAN

Draws out for the wheelchair events at Wimbledon

Mens - Alfie is seeded 2 and plays Gordon in the opening round! Alfie and Gordon are top seeds in the doubles.

Womens - Lucy is unseeded in singles and seeded 2 in the doubles

Quads - Andy is as per Lucy above

Singles are 8 player draws and doubles 4 pairs.

Would be great to see someone get a title, Alfie and Gordon will clearly be the most likely to achieve that.

Play starts Thursday according to the ITF site

Lucy Shuker went down 2 and 2 to a wildcard entrant, Im sure that will disappoint her. Andy Lapthorne on court now.

And Andy L went down 1 and 3.

All 4 are in doubles but Alfie is the only singles player left. He plays his long time rival Fernandez tomorrow

With the withdrawal of Rafa and scheduling of womens doubles semis into centre court, the wheelchair events go into the spotlight - Court One! Which is great for the sport, or category as Alfie called it.

Alfie plays his semi first and then Alfie and Gordon play doubles on Court one.

Enjoy, chaps !

Amazing to see wheelchair match live on bbc 2 and on Court One with a full stadium. The crowd are really into it and giving lots of support.

Its a shame Alfie is being beaten but its great to see it and the profile it gives the sport is fantastic

Listen to the crowd! What a win ! First Wimbledon final in singles!

He deserves a lot of kudos for that and it really was a great advert for wheelchair tennis!!

they should put the final on centre court - if they can find the time - that was 3 hours 20 mins and 76 mins final set

Lucy lost her doubles semi and so left in are Alfie in the mens singles final, Andy in the quads doubles final and Alfie and Gordon about to start in the mens doubles semi , which is also on Court One.
