No news since last search -  presumably still in the USA. Last match seems to be WAco 2022

Also this from 2012. - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/tennis/article-2240599/Are-Destinee-Essence-Martins-Britains-answer-Williams-sisters.html

Sorry nothing recent.

Apparently at TCU

There is one other Brit on the TCU roster to make it 4.

Thanks E1 and welcome to the forum smile Think you were alluding to Luke Swan? (thanks Mazzy)

I have add Luke to the list (and managed to spell his name wrong hmm), but we are very relaxed here on the College chat.

I only tend to post about the mens teams, there are posters on here (DannyT, Tennpar, CD etc) who are a lot more knowledgeable about the womens teams than I am and do a great job of updating.

Colette's report:

I rather like the damn-with-faint-praise part where she writes:

".... with freshman Pinnington Jones defeating Micah Braswell 6-4, 6-0 at line 3. Pinnington Jones, who just became eligible on February 8, hadn't been particularly impressive in his first four dual matches, but today he showed why his eligibility status was so significant in assessing TCU's prospects this spring."

Lol others were more effusive, with Jack crushing his opponent

Once the match turned over to singles, it was pure Horned Frog domination, as courts 3,4, and 5 made such quick work of the Longhorns that the other duals barely had a chance to approach a finish. Pinnington was first to finish, crushing #65 Micah Braswell 6-4, 6-0.

The rankings were released 21 Feb with TCU in the top spot. link includes mens singles and doubles rankings. Toby Samuel and Connor Thompson (S Carolina) top the Brits at #6 and #7 respectively.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way college athletics operated, forcing administrators to make tough decisions about their programs futures. Flagship sports brought in less revenue, leaving non-revenue athletics to fend for themselves. But for collegiate tennis, unique circumstances have led to seeing itself disproportionately placed on the cut list at many universities.

Seventeen Division I programs were slashed, making tennis the most affected sport by cuts. That number rose to 59 when looking at newly lost programs at all levels including NAIA and junior colleges. Most tennis cuts happened at member schools of mid-major conferences. However even Iowa and Minnesota off loaded mens tennis from their arsenals.

But how have our Brit players fared? Brackets () - Year of student when prog closed
Iowa:closed mens tennis
Will Davis (Jr) transferred to Uni San Diego (2021-22) and is currently assistant coach at Denver.

Joe Tyler(Jr) transferred to SDS. Currently playing ITF #1414. Working as an operations manager at Tyler-Jarret Financial Planning

Oliver Okonkwo(So) stayed at Iowa to graduate, redshirted due to injury. Was down to transfer to Drake, but changed his mind and transferred to Illinois. Currently playing 3-6 singles as as Grad student, but has 2 years eligibility due to redshirted at Iowa. Hoping Ollie will do well!!

Matt Clegg(Fr) transferred to Drake, on the roster but not played this year - injured???

Peter Alum(Fr) transferred to Pacific Currently singles player #1.

Minnesota closed mens tennis:
Daniel Martin - sat on the bench Freshman year, saw minimal action Sophomore year. Transferred to Elon(CAA) as a repeat Sophomore and played #3 singles 2021-22. Junior year is playing #1 and recently won CAA singles players of the week.

Kristina Paskauskas had committed to Kansas State for the fall of 2022 but it's clear to see she has decided to go pro

I noticed Samuel Reeve is on Memphis's roster as a redshirt freshman so I'm assuming he's got a long-term injury. Sam was a Stirling national academy player

Is it clear that she decided to go pro?

She hasn't played any event since last autumn

She might be injured, I guess, but I assumed she was off studying somewhere

It's a long injury, if it is an injury and she's really trying to play fulltime....

She's not on any roster that I can find and the only information connecting her to US college was the initial commitment to K- State back in 2021. Her last pro match ended in retirement last year......Wait she's actually on the entry list for Sharm 27th and the week after

Well, if she's decided to go pro straight away I suppose you can't knock her confidence at least, bit of a surprise though - I assumed her recent adventures in Monastir were about cementing a higher starting player position for her debut college season.

Any idea if Kate Mansfield might take the college route, IIRC she recently turned 18.

Luke Swan being Katie Swan's brother?

Great to see that Jomo and Toby are doing well
