So the qualies have started and two losses:

Derrick Chen lost 6-2 6-2 to German Q7 , Florig.

Kylie Bilchev lost 6-4 6-2 to Canadian Q5, Xu

I think Jack PJ, Matilda Mutavdzic and Lui Maxted will be in main draw singles events

This year the main draw is only 48, unlike the usual 64, so the seeds in qualifying are higher ranked than usual. Main draw starts on Monday

After being broken twice in the first set Lui only faced one breakpoint in the second set - it proved to be the last point of the match. Matilda's round 2 opponent is settled - a girl who reached the semi-finals in the recent American Grade 1

Matilda duly won 6-3 6-1 Jack has just edged the first set tiebreak 7-5 (saved a setpoint at 5-6). I must have misread the draw, as he is playing an American wildcard Colton Smith

 Looking like she will play Sierra next from Argentina who is close to beating the 4th seed.
