Because they made hard work of it, and looked as if they were going out

Singles main draw is out, and Beth is seeded 8. And Katie Boulter is in at #2

I was hoping Jodie might have got a wild card here but apparently not - just playing doubles.

She was a late withdrawal from a W25 so she's not allowed to accept a WC to a lower level event.

Yes, a little unfortunate. Automatic withdrawal from two tournaments in favour of the W25, and she withdrew from that the same day, all on 23rd March. Must have missed the 14:00 GMT deadline by a few hours.

These look like potentially decent draws for all three ladies and anything other than three wins would be  a bit of a disappointment surely?

 I agree.

And yet with the bookmakers, Alicia is a predicted to lose (2.1 v 1.66) and Beth is only expected to win by a smidgen (1.72 v 2).

Beth's odds might make sense in that the Japanese player used to be 178.

But Lissey's is presumably a reflection that no one has any confidence in her because you can't see anything special about her opponent.
