Thanks JonH, I was waiting until I'd seen the entry lists before doing it  wink

Cheers Jon. Still think the Classic week could maybe do with its own individual thread given the line up, and particularly the money involved, plus to differentiate it a bit, but we've at least got a new thread for next week sorted, and it was definitely needed. wink

Well done Sonay. Recovered from a break down in the first set to win 6-2 6-3, $6k better off, and joins fellow week winners Jodie, Naomi and Eden in the Classic week, and Beth as well. She was a breathe of fresh air all week, and nice to see a younger player do well.

Cool, cheers Jon. Just having a quick look at prize money for the female players and 100k (Surbiton, Ilkley etc) event winners get $15k, WTA intl events (equiv of ATP 250s) winner usually get $43k, struggling to find info for the WTA 125k events, but $20k for the Classic week really is absolutely brilliant in comparison to that.

It'll be an even tougher schedule than normal because there should be less weaker links (especially on the women's side, not sure if there have been a few generally out of their depth in weeks in the men), so probably less 40-45 min matches (or even 30...), but it'll be worth it for them to end a packed domestic swing with that sort of monetary incentive.

Emily Ap 6-2 6-3 over Alice to finish 5th overall, and getting a bit of revenge from the other day. A bit of a disappointing week for her, losing those 3 MTBs in the group and finishing 4th out of 6th, but then I guess it's not too much different (in terms of points and money) to qualifying for the SF but ending up 4th, and at least she ends with back to back wins, and a decent one over Freya.

Freya won a tighter match this time against Erin to finish 7th, 6-4 7-6(5). Millie beat Danielle 6-3 1-0 RET to finish 9th, and currently watching Eliz vs Nadia (in the background), but I'm about 20 mins behind. Nadia took the first set comfortably.

All court up now smile. I was watching this on the laptop and the BOB on the TV as well, but was kind of more focussing on SGH towards the climax of the match. Fully dialed in this BOB second set now though. Decent comeback from Eliz to clinch another 3rd place finish, she was looking down and out a set and break down. By my calculations, she'll definitely be in the Classic week if either Nadia or Freya don't play week 5 next week.

Yeah, she was a breathe of fresh air this week. I thought she'd be the only one in that group to push Freya and Emily Arb when they were announced, so I was pleased she started so well, but to beat Freya in that epic, and then qualify with a match to spare, was really good going.

A bit of a chat with her there in the 'story' section, but I think you have to have an account to listen. She says that was her first singles match since November., and that she'll put the prize money towards her next competition. I'm sure the chance for some more significant prize money in the Classic week will also be welcome.

Does anyone know what she does for most of her time - is she a UK Uni student?

Just to let you know, the polls are up for GB Player of the Month over in the general discussion section, if any followers of womens tennis would like to vote!

I think you'll find that the few of us who post in here are all in the other active threads JonH. Let's hope there are plenty of votes this week.
