Well done to all three GB girls who qualified.

In terms of the boys, and just for the record:

Young Ben Gusic Wan failed to qualify, as did Henry Searle and Luke Hooper.

Further to the girls, useful to note that:

2006-born: Jadesola, Vlada, Sophya Devas (1st Jan 2006, indeed), Hannah

2007 born: Hephzibah, Mingge

Well done to Henry Searle, who made it into the draw as a Lucky Loser, and then won his first round match very comfortably.

Thanks for the heads-up about the courts, David.

Interesting to see the youngsters.

Sophya has just lost 4-6 in the third, against a not particularly impressive French girl.

Sophya seems the classic sort of youngster we were mentioning a week or so back - already 14, she's very tall and grown up for her age, looks like an 18 year-old. So has a big physical advantage. But her tennis is not anything very special (based on what I saw today and, obviously, just a personal opinion without any real basis).

Henry Searle (not streamed) has made his LL spot count even more by winning his R2 match too

I've no idea how true it is but I've heard that Viktor is pretty difficult to coach.....

He lost 4-6 4-6 today to the second seed but certainly wasn't outclassed, from the small bits I saw - some good lefty forehands.

Tough match for Sophya, but yes a huge physical advantage versus most of the other 14u girls.  her opponent has had some strong results in TEs.  Great result for Hepzibah today and a strong challenge versus another 2007 Brenda Fruhvitova in round 3 - should be a great watch.

Interesting that both him and Henry are both left handed!

(thou I believe Henry is naturally right handed, but his first coach got him to swap hands at a very young age - maybe 5?)

Yes - I saw Sophy's at the Wirral and thought she was one of the coaches....
