Good luck to Scotland tonight! Will also be giving Wales support in their quest for a higher seeding in the play offs. They or Denmark, plus 4 other European teams plus 3 Caribbean/Central American teams will join the 34 already into the World Cup at the end of tonights action
Northern and Republic of Ireland already in them - draw on Thursday alongside the Interncontinental Play off draw as well.
In the Concacaf zone, we have Suriname or Panama, Jamaica or Curacao, and one of Honduras, Haiti or Costa Rica also going to qualify, in 3 very finely placed groups and head to head matches for top spot in all 3. 3 qualify and 2 go to the Intercontinental Play offs, joining Bolivia, DR Congo, New Caledonia, and the winner of Iraq and the UAE (who play their play off second leg tonight), to form what will be one of the most eclectic groups of nations battling it out in Mexico to try and qualify.
The Intercontinental and Euro qualifying play offs for those final 6 places (4 Europe, 2 interncontinental) take place in March.

I am not sure the idea of giving the highest ranked teams a highe the pot and then giving them a home draw for the semis is very fair. They arent the teams that did best in qualies. The pots should, in my mind, been linked to group stage points/average points or at least the home draws determined by that.
Being in Pot 1 and 2 seems a massive advantage - can't see NI or RI getting through but Wales I do see as getting to the Path final

You could look at it another way. The 1 and 2 teams are obviously in the doldrums while the 3 and 4 teams are on the rise, which would potentially make the latter the favourites, obviously excluding Sweden whose inclusion is a joke.

Yes, the Pot 4 teams have rather less to complain about. They have had the worst qualifying campaigns in not being top 2 finishers and Sweden have been abject. But they are there by the Nations League backdoor

Agreed and, being honest, I don't think there should be a Nations League back door - the World Cup should be based on performance in the actual World Cup qualies.
Personally, given they have 6 teams in the Inter Confederation qualifying play offs in 2 paths of 3, I dont see why Europe didn't have 4 paths of 3 with 12 teams involved. Northern Ireland would miss out on that basis but, heh.
At least potential good news at the end for Waies and the Republic. The Path A final hosts will be Wales or Bosnia and the Path D final hosts will be Czechia or the Republic of Ireland. Wales vs Italy for a place in the finals would be something
The Path B final hosts will be Ukraine or Sweden and the Path C final hosts will be Slovakia or Kosovo.

Are Ukraine able to host, or are they moving to neutral venues?
Good news re Wales getting the hosting rights, and RI.

I doubt Ukraine can actually host in Ukraine. They've generally ( perhaps always in the campaign ) been playing their 'home' games in Poland.
I guess they might have a rethink if they have a play-off final vs Poland.
