General football thread

Off to Harrogate and Wrexham today in the cup - sold out. Been a few upsets so far this round one, can we do the same!?

Excited for it!

Been quite a few upsets so far.
Not sure the no replay is a good thing. It takes away the lucrative second match with potential TV revenue

Well somehow we got through - not sure it was good football and their manager described it well

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson: "We dominated the first early exchanges. I thought our approach play really was good, but lacked conviction in our crossing and our finishing to get that goal.
"Then we've conceded a goal from a set play, which gave a team who are good at hanging in there - that's what they do they did it our place last year; they're a backs-to-the-wall type team, and we gave them something to hang on to.
"Second half, we've pinned them in for practically the whole of the 45 minutes, got cross after cross in, got in positions, but couldn't find that moment of quality. If we're honest the conviction in around the box wasn't where it needs to be."

But into round 2 and weve drawn Gainsborough trinity - at home - which gives us a decent shout at round 3 and a big team.

We really do play some awful football though ! Haha

Yeah , just saw that. Be interestkng to see how this pans out; cant see a big crowd on a friday night - Gainsborough wont bring many and Harrogate never get many! It seems an odd choice as I dont see big upset (dont get me wrong, harrogate wont walk it, just I dont think we are a big scalp).

But good to get a second lot of TV money!

60k for tv games.
Gainsborough will bring over 1000. It is fairly local and their biggest game for years....

Football - beat Wrexham one week, lose at home to basement Morecambe this. And we are now in the relegation talk and going to face a bumpy season if we dont start picking up soon.

FA Cup again this weekend and we go into another TV match tomorrow evening with a bit of form the past couple of games

Easy to be sceptical about the manager and his Dad, but it works and, to be fair to Simon and his Dad, our budget is small for this level. A cup run would be lovely and tomorrow night Harrogate have a decent chance of progressing

Town on top here, 4000 crowd as well. Just not converting. Glad Dooley is ok, that was nasty

I couldnt go last night, but enjoyed watching Town on BBC2; fair game for this level. Injury to Dooley beggared belief- what was that kit doing at pitch side; fortunately our hospital backs onto the ground, youd be in A and E for stitches in literally 5 mins walking.

Good to be in round 3 for second time ever - last time we got Luton away, not really the dream tie. Hope we get a top premier team or Leeds Utd, home or away!

By my calcs we have got £120k from winning rounds 1 and 2, plus £25k in the bag for round 3; so £145k total. TV money Im not sure but I read somewhere £50k round 1 and 2, but maybe wrong? But maybe £250k bagged so far. For harrogate its big money; but a big round 3 draw and ticket money and maybe tv would be marvellous.

Having just seen the highlights, they should use the prize money to buy some decent floodlights
