General football thread

Of course everyone in England will be supporting the Spanish!

Funny how that works isnt it, the vast majority of English fans will be wishing you well as our second team when it comes to International football. For me that is down to England being so poor when I was a kid, more Scotsman had been sent home from tournaments (wild Willy) than Englishman had been, saw them in the finals of anything when I was 16 and Villa (with three Scots)?champions of Europe!

In memory of Bobby Charlton, who has gone to join his brother, this deserves another outing.

Probably the best advert ever made.

RIP Bobby Charlton

Ive just been talking with friends about Bobby, what a player, a great man and the most amazing story. Englands best ever player, possibly. That Man Utd team with him, Law, Best must be close to the best team in English league history. Leeds fans of the 70s and Liverpool of the Dalglish and Barnes, Rush and Beardsley era may disagree but Id go with Bobby and his Man Utd late 60s team.

thanks for the link, it brought back memories

Went to Harrogate and Crewe today. Awful match. Town are bereft of attacking ideas, and have no spark. The hope we had the first few league seasons of progress and being somewhere new has gone and the team is lacking passion and the fans are lacking passion as well. We are 18th now, home form is poor with 4 straight losses.

Id say the manager must go; but the manager is the owners son, so it wont happen.

We play Marine at Marine next weekend and that is a Cup Tie where I fear the worst. Our away form seems surprisingly sound though. Just hope we dont need a replay.

Wishing you all a great weekend.
I fear for Harrogate taking on mighty Marine.
Personally I plan to gorge on 3 courses of TV football with a live football desert. Settling down to Sheppy v Walsall, Bromley v Blackpool tomorrow, Forest v Villa and then the big one in the flesh Charlton millers.

I fear for Harrogate also. Going to be a nervy one. Horsham did well last night to hold Barnsley but Sheppey went down sadly. Could have been a landslide !

Incredible from Horsham. 600 fans on a wet Friday in Barnsley! Tempted to go to replay as Horsham only 20 minutes away.
Lets see how Worthing do today.

Oh me of little faith - 5-1 away win, never in question! Unlike Swindon at home to aldershot. Actually a range of big scores today , a number of 5,6 or 7s

Yes, I see that National League Aldershot were 7-0 up on League Two Swindon after 58 minutes! It finished 7-4 with 2 of the goals in added time.

Well done, Harrogate.
