2019 Grass Court Season - Which British player will win the most MAIN DRAW DOUBLES matches - a Poll!

Close of play June 11th and Neal and Jamie get on the scorecard, only doubles match played today over in Holland. Dom, Joe and Luke and Jonny play tomorrow on the mens side, ladies doubles I suspect will wait until singles has got going at the English venues. Luke may be able to go joint top with a win.

Somebody voted for Luke and this could prove v insightful if he and Jonny go further this week. Still , lots of British pairs in play across the various venues in an embryonic week.

So, a number of doubles wins today and some disappointing losses, the 13th June table looks like this: quite a log jam now and a lot of players with wins. All of those on 2 wins are still in as are several on 1 win and Heather and Luke are both no longer playing or didnt play this week. So the top of the table could change as the week progresses. What is clear is that Neal , Joe and Jamie who were the top 3 picks in our poll are all not tearing things up yet and have ground to make up at Queens and Eastbourne in the next couple of weeks. Should be an exciting next few days

So at the end of play 14th June, the doubles list starts to show quite a crowd on 3 and 2 wins and most of them are still in this week. Many of the bigger names havent got going yet to be frank, so not exactly a leaderboard that many would have expected, but of course the big events kick in from this weekend and so this could well change as the main tour players take centre stage and the Challenger and ITF events enter the last week.

Dom and Naomi on 3 wins could go top outright tomorrow, Liam, Scott and Ken also still in Nottingham.

the wild card here other than Neal, Jamie, Joe, Jonny yet to start firing is of course Andy!! He will no doubt be playing with non Brits and hopefully 3 events and I wouldnt put it past him to start to challenge in this table in the next few weeks!

So 15th June update: Ken wins into semis in Nottingham but of course DOm winning the title in Den Bosch is the big event. Ken could conceivably win 2 matches tomorrow and draw level at the top with Dom, the big stuff starts on MOnday! For now, Dom leads

Just looking back at last year, we had 102 doubles "wins" (in this case a British pair winning as a pair notches up 2 wins) compared to 36 wins so far this year. With roughly 1/3rd of the weeks gone by, that looks to be about the same run rate as last year.

Of the 36 "wins" so far this year, 21 are mens, 15 womens I think that is a fair bit closer than last season, at least so far

You are forgiven JonH, I didn't get round to posting the Ilkley doubles draw last night.
