Week 42 - ITF ($25K) - Joue-Les-Tours, France Hard

Well any hangover from Friday Eden seems to have got over today, as she obliterated Silich, allowing her to get on the board only the second last game of the match. Won 5/5 BPs and had none against, qualifies for the MD, and would be happy if she can get a rest tomorrow!

Q2: SILVA, Eden (GBR) 5 485 beat SILICH, Alina (RUS) 15 681 CH=416 5/2/18 6-0 6-1

biggrin This is almost Wang Qiang like, racking up the wins out of nowhere. She was obviously a higher ranked seed than her opponent today but that scoreline is so impressive especially when Silich was ranked higher than Eden has ever been less than 8 months ago and that's now 24 games out of her last 25 to back up last weeks success.

Bit of a battle in the second set. Lissey served for the match twice, but five consecutive breaks of serve led to the tie-break.
So Eden and Lissey both qualify again.

A lot closer than it was looking at one stage, but job very much done nonetheless.

8 qualifiers and they aren't all complete, so it'll be a while before they are placed, but potential opponents are:

(5) Georges - circa 226
(6) Hesse - circa 233
(8) Paquet - circa 246
Honkova - circa 270
Maleckova - circa 295
Bucsa - circa 364
(WC) Noel - circa 727, but did very well last week
(WC) Halemai - circa 1052

 A gratuitously unpleasant remark!

No its not unpleasant, its a pet hate when someone who may be referred to by close family and friends as Lissey. Im sure if she wanted to be called that for her tennis career her name wouldnt read as Alicia Barnett would it now?

Apart from Gabi being shorter and easier to write, what's the difference with you calling Gabriella Taylor, 'Gabi'?

Her twitter account is @LisseyBarnett - and I've seen her referred to as Lissey elsewhere. I seem to remeber this being commented on before, and someone saying that that was what she preferred to be called.

I don't think she'd use Lissey as the name on her social media accounts if she didn't like being called by it Jaggy. Your remark is gratuitous and unpleasant. I suppose we shouldn't call Gabi, Gabi then, nor Jo, Jo, nor anyone elsother than by their full name? Come on Jaggy, let's cut out the unnecessary stuff please.

Lissey - and yes I will continue to use her preferred name - has the toughest draw, but all three players are in with a chance in their respective matches.

R32: Maia LUMSDEN (GBR) [SE] 418 vs Barbora STEFKOVA (CZE) 321 (CH:154 Feb 17)
R32: Eden SILVA (GBR) [Q] 486 vs Cristina BUCSA (ESP) 353=CH
R32: Alicia BARNETT (GBR) [Q] 510 vs Myrtille GEORGES (FRA) [5] 222 (CH:168 July 16)
