nice to see jeremy beadle giving tennis a go at last.

Igmc

On a serious note, the 3 brits are doing OK this week, justifying the trip at this early stage

Yes. In terms of points, this is a great opportunity.

All three have a decent chance of winning their QFs, which gives 8 points.

Ryan has only 4 points coming off before the end of the year, so the 3 here practically covers that already.

Evan only has 7 points coming off too.

(Brydan, on the other hand, has 35 but with his CH would be expecting to make serious inroads at these 25ks)

All three of then are seeded for next week's event. And close to being seeded for the event the week after.

So real chance to make a big jump......

Thanks CD - I also see there is a fourth event in Toowomba the week after so Cairns, Darwin, Brisbane and Toowomba (seems like a lot of travelling though for that itinerary) which presumably all 3 will also play whilst they are there?

Apropos your other post on the entries thread, I see Rhett Purcell (recently of these shores) is also the next few weeks after this although he doesnt appear to be in this first event this week?

Then a week gap before 2 Challengers in Aus. I'd guess Brydan would sign in for Q's. I wonder if Ryan & Evan plan to stay around for these and sign in.

For night owls Ryan is under way on ITF live stream, *1-1

And the next match on court is Evan's.

Well done to Brydan. Decent effort from Evan and, sadly, a retirement from Ryan

As Indy always says, QFs are good but you've really got to make the jump to the SF for the points to make a difference.

QF: [5] Evan Hoyt (GBR) WR 693 lost to Jeremy Beale (AUS) WR 497 7-5 2-6 6-3

QF: (q) [3] Brydan Klein (GBR) WR 635 def. [8] Issei Okamura (JPN) WR 872 6-3 6-2

QF: [6] Ryan Storrie (GBR) WR 737 lost to (wc) Jayden Court* (AUS) UNR, born 2000 2-6 2-3 retirement

Something dramatic must have happened in Ryan's match.

He was 6-2 and 3-2 up. Cruising along apparently.

And then had to retire.

I do so hope it's not his ankle again - he's had such bad luck with that injury ever since he did it at junior Wimbly.

And it's confirmed that it really is bad luck for Ryan, yet again.

His ankle problem has indeed flared up once more, in a major way, and he's flying home. There's been so much rehab, maybe an operation is the only way forward....

Really feel for the young man.

Oh so sorry for Ryan. I saw he retired when ahead in his match but I didn't know why. If an operation should sort things it would seem time to go for it.
