Fed Cup 2019 - Euro/Africa Zone Group 1 - Bath, GB

It appears that the LTA is doing a good thing and bidding to host the Euro Africa Zone event in February.

Loughborough or Bath appear to be the most likely venues.

This would be good and would certainly help our team!

Fingers crossed it comes off

Fed Cup 2019 - in GB?

Like Eurovision, I can't see many voting for us.

No-one wants to host it. It is too expensive.
Loughborough will probably get it.

 Looks like it is confirmed.

on twitter

Great Britain will host Fed Cup action next year for the first time since 1993. Two pools in Europe/Africa Zone Group I will be held at the University of Bath on February 6-9. Poland will host the other two pools.

That is good news - Simon briggs in the torygraph explains it well, Gb will host 8 teams and Poland 7 and one winner will emerge at each venue to go forward to world qualifiers. The world qualifiers will most likely be in spring as this year.

Presumably there will be two round Robin groups and then semis and a final over the event.

Good news to avoid Poland.

Look forward to seeing Sharapova, Wozniacki and Svitolina in Bath though.

According to the BBC article the draw will be held later this week.

Stu Fraser says that Russia and Poland will play in Poland, and a preliminary draw will be made in the next fortnight to place the other teams. The balance of the pools will be decided in another draw on January 14th

As usual, so much depends on which players turn out for their countries.

Croatia will almost certainly be in Bath. They have 2 X top 40 players and several other good players behind that.

no reason to disagree but what makes you think they'll be in one place or the other?

It was on Stu Fraser's Twitter I think. I assume they would be the other seeds.
