There was a medical time out at the end of the first set, so fingers crossed that it wasn't for Eden.

Her performance in the first set against a lower ranked player was so indifferent that I suspect it was for her. Second set started with a 15 pt game on Malmqvist's serve, during which Eden had numerous BPs, but failed to take any, and then promptly lost her own serve, so now she's down 2-6 0-2. Disappointing disbelief

I'm pleased to see that Eden didn't like her performance described as disappointing, since she then won 6 of the next 8 games to square the match 2-6 6-4.
Ok another underwhelming set will do wink

Looks like that is indeed happening. Malmqvist serving for the match 3-5*

Eden broke back so 4-5 *15-15. Hopefully not a similar conclusion to Greta yesterday

Eden saved 3 MPs on her own serve at *2-5, then went on a run of 7 straight points, to bring it back to serve *4-5... dropped the first service point and won the next 4. It's now back to 5-5 wink

Eden has now made it to a final set TB. Over 100 points each won in the match, and 2 hrs 45 mins on the clock.
But she has lost the first few points...

That's a really great win there for Eden, will make her feel a little better after failing to reach the singles MD!  smile

Ka is an interesting player, brought up in France and very 'French', and spent a successful stint at college in the US, but has decided recently to play for Cambodia, which has a family connection.

Yes, that means her family, or parents, managed to get out, or were out and stayed out, during the Khymer Rouge regime. There is not a Cambodian over the age of 40 whose life was not affected by that regime, and most families have been split up in one way or another...
