Beth served for it at 5-2.

But now 5-4

Second attempt....

Harriet seems to be having a strop about line calls again....

Some of them have been pretty poor to put it mildly  Most of her chunnering is at herself

Eden broke again, and has indeed won 10 points in a row, to go 6-5* up in the second set vs Beth.

Got to 12 points in a row and 30-0* but Beth found responses and we have a TB

When Beth was 0-30 down at 5-6 I thought she was done and dusted.
And I then lived every ball of that tie-break with her - love Eden as a talent but no one deserves to lose from 5-2 up, and Beth needed that win more.

Very pleased for her

66 points is a tie for WR500 - but it will be GB #12 which is more important for next week.

Harriet is a game away. In my opinion, Emma is our best prospect since Laura.

There, I said it.

Better - I said that!! Harriet had to work very hard for that win.

Yeah, really impressed. And the progress she's made in a year or two is major. Great trajectory to be on.

Elsewhere, Emily App is making a very good fist of the first set against Czech top-200 player

Currently leading 6-5* and playing well

I'd say better from a work ethic point of view (from her RG interview), but I have no idea whether she's mentally tough or not.

Poor Em App had three set points at 6-3.

And saved one at 6-7

But ended up losing the tb 9-7

Played well though, lots of intent

That's such a shame. Was also 5-1 up so lost 8 of the last 10 points and looks like it's running away from her now. Did so well to get into that position in the first place but frustrating that she couldn't see it out.

Very impressed with Katy and Harriet's doubles win. Hardly put a foot wrong. Harriet dominated from the back of the court and Katy was pretty good at the net.
EWS was a tight match, but lacked real quality and was decided by a double fault at 9-9 in the MTB.

Alicia doesn't look like a natural grass court player and Miriam kept the ball in court and the errors kept coming.

The best match of the day was between the Claire Liu and the young Ukrainian. Both had reached junior Wimbledon finals, so not sure why the match was put on court 1.
The Ukrainian had a very attacking game compared to Liu who was outstanding defensively and had no major weapons. Defence came out on top.

Tomorrow I'll predict that Eden will beat Beth. Naomi will win as will Harriet. Katy has a chance. Emily A and Sam will bow out.

You did OK, paulisi but no cigar - those first two predictions skuppered you smile

You were right about Katy, though, and such a shame that she didn't make it.

Emily App, like Katy, seems to be someone who's playing good tennis but doesn't really have anything to show for it.

Beth and Olivia worked their magic again in the doubles
