So alex ward and Jay Clarke are the only Gb players, male or female, playing a main draw match today at Surbiton. So if one of them wins, they will be our day 1 leader in what I am going tk now call "the race to the place". And why not.

Stalking horse, anyone?

Edmund is probably the most underrated here, but a lot is going to depend on how much each person plays, and at what levels. Gabi vs Heather first up will be an interesting match up, with several votes for Gabi and none for Heather - Gabi expected to win more, but including more at ITF level presumably than Heather, for whom this week is also presumably going to be her only ITF foray.

So day one of the grass season sees no GB wins, but then again only 2 players played main draw.

If Kyle gets in the frame from possibly just Queens and Wimbledon it will hopefully mean that he has done really well ( not that hardly anyone else has won much! )

But Jo still looks to me much more likely, and she was my pick.

 Mine too, by dint of the number of grass court tournaments she's entered... I hope she stays healthy during the next 4-6 weeks!

So 6 players tied at the top:

Swan, boulter, dunne, dart and Taylor and Evans. 1 win each on a good day for the ladies, and Dan. Will one of these hold on and come out top? From today's news doesn't seem like Andy will be joining them next week at least, from my reading of things

Well, day 3 of the grass season has now finished in terms of GB players and the table is:

1 D. Evans 2
1 G. Taylor 2
3 H. Dart 1
3 K. Boulter 1
3 K. Dunne 1
3 K. Swan 1

Of course, a few of the girls still need to play and a few top players need to start, but interesting to see who has moved ahead!

Day 4 of 42 grass court days over: standings are now: (alphabetically by first name)

1 D. Evans 2
1 G. Taylor 2
1 H. Dart 2
1 K. Boulter 2
5 K. Dunne 1
5 K. Swan 1

With 10 wins so far across the players and 4 players left in, we stand a chance of a record haul at Surbiton in recent years. In 2015 we had 14 wins, in 2017 we had 13, so we are inline with that I think at the moment.  

We are also averaging 2.5 wins a day which means extrapolated out we will get 105 wins over the 42 days of the grass season...or maybe not.

Dan and Harriet lead the way now. 10 of us predicted Dan would do well this grass season, but only 2 of us had Harriet (step forward you folks, time to take a small bow) lets hope she can continue in this vein.

 and so week one ends this way. Next week will see jo Konta come into play, and cam Norrie starting as well, kyle waiting in the sidelines of course. 

12 wins in the week is about par, maybe a win or two down on previous years. Ladies lead the way!

Not much action on the grass today, just 3 Brits playing main draws, presumably a lot of action tomorrow. Alex Ward gets a win (albeit over Liam B) and so list after day 8 of the grass is now:
