Week 20 - ATP Masters 1000 - Internazionali BNL d'Italia - Rome, Italy (clay)

Jamie and Bruno won their doubles opener quite comfortably in 2 sets versus Klaasen and Venus. Next match (quarters( will see them play Kontinen and Peers , possibly.

I actually wanted Berdych to win as I seem to have gone off Shapovalov. Not just because he beat our boy but his behaviour in that match was not the best in my opinion.

 What do you mean?

 Don't you start

Quite...... especially as I'm a bit out of my depth on this anyway LOL.  It was mainly concerning   the incident of the call  of 'out' on one of Shap's serve's by a member of the public which caused Kyle to  not attempt to return.  Allegedly Shap could have requested the umpire to call a 'let'.  Whether that is true or not I don't know, but Kyle's frosty handshake at the net showed he was not best pleased either.  I also thought his body language somewhat brattish/petulant in his subsequent match against Zverev.   But I'll probably get to like him again as he does have a wonderful game style when at his best.

Stu Fraser tweeting that Kyle's match has been moved:
"Kyle Edmund vs Lucas Pouille moved to Pietrangeli court. Will start following the Wozniacki vs Van Uytvanck match (almost one set in), not before 7:15pm UK."

Maybe Shap didn't know this.

Could Jo K have called for a let at Wimbledon when a woman yelled on MP against Halep putting Halep right off ?

Kyle underway and starts with a break.
Sadly I can't find a stream, and Radio 5 Live aren't covering it - they seem to have to spend 2 hours discussing the football squad..........

Kyle stormed through the 1st set in dominant fashion taking it 6-2. On serve in the 2nd at *2-3 but Pouille has certainly upped his game substantially. This could still be a close battle, as it should be between players provisionally ranked 16 & 17 in the world.

L32:  Kyle Edmund WR 19 defeated (16) Lucas Pouille (FRA) WR 16 by 6-2 7-6(3)

Looks like Zverev (A) in the last 16.  I think that win means that Kyle could be seeded in the top 16 at RG...
