Well done Spartans! Would you reckon theyve a decent chance against Albion Rovers (where is Albion!!?)
Albion Rovers play in Coatbridge, population about 45,000 though really in a conurbation of about 90,000 when joined with Airdrie and some other adjoining settlements. About 9 miles east of Glasgow city centre not that far from the outskirts. Airdrie and Coatbridge have historically had a slight Protestant / Catholic thing going on!
According to wiki they have been in the Scotfish League ever since 1903 apart from 4 years during Workd War One when the second tier was suspended.

And apparently have spawned various namesake clubs around the world!
I've read elsewhere many criticisms of the Football League and non league play-off systems, generally regarding teams being beaten by teams who got a lot lfewer points during the regular league aeason ( often by the losing teams' supporters ).
My general view though is that the play-offs are a great end to the season. But one reservation is that where you have a fairly big sized league there should be at least two automatic places first. This season more than any has indicated why the National League to League 2 promotion.should be 2 automatic + 1 play-off rather than 1 + 1.

I tend to agree- 3 down from 24 in efl2 would be sensible - being honest, the conference is not like its financially ruinous and many of the teams in it get bigger crowds and all stay pro. So just having two go down cant make sense in terms of protectionism. Id actually be happy to see something like Scotland, Indy, and have a play off incorporating Three conference teams and the third lowest EFL2 team in it.
Many conference clubs are financially in a mess. Wrexham and their following and push for the online tv deal have kept them afloat.
Huge number of clubs struggling:
Southend - up for sale
Solihull - huge losses propped up by benefactor
Chesterfield - borrowed huge amounts in covid to survive
Fylde - huge losses propped up by benefactor
Oldham - huge issues, new owner in place, but massive wage bill
Boreham Wood - huge losses propped up by benefactor

Well, Harrogate falls in to the huge losses propped up by a benefactor category but the reality for Harrogate is that the benefactor is benevolent and would never (never say never) call in his loans. I say never but I think hes genuine. Im not sure how that stands elsewhere to be honest and whether it is right or wrong
Yes, my very local Scottish non league team will now be a very local Scottish League team.
Albion Rovers 0 The Spartans 1 ( agg. 1-2 )
Excellent ! well done! Where are they, i tried to see on a map and they seemed to be down below Stockbridge and towards Leith , is that right ? Local derbies with Hibs in a few seasons.!
I think I count them as my adopted Scottish club because of my old work colleague , Craig Graham, must drop him a line !
btw Indy - how many league clubs does a Edinburgh have - Hibs, Hearts, Spartans who else?
They also have FC Edinburgh.
Well done to Spartans they obviously deserve it by beating Brechin and Albion, but would have preferred Brechin, and feel sorry for Albion as can't see them recovering from this. Their stadium should be condemned and if they couldn't afford repairs whilst in league two they definitely won't be able to afford it in the lowland league
