Yes, that seems fair. I was just commenting on Vandy's final range description - it actually seemed a quite nice summing up until he got to that one.

If Jay wins the final here, then with recent points helping build on his Bangalore Challenger final in November he will go GB #2 in the race although the men in general haven't so far this year got things going like quite a number of our women. Our current race #4 hasn't even been seen for a couple of months, his position based mainly on a couple of futures titles late last year. There's a lot of treading water with Kyle's Aus Open SF of course being the huge exception. Hopefully a few can start building more in the coming months while we await the Andy and Evo comebacks.

No one else has more than 24 points or is inside the top 400 in the world in the race, though just for Vandy

Jay leads the final 6-1 3-3*

After a convincing first set Jay contrived to lose the first 11 points of the second set to be on the brink of an early 2 breaks down. He avoided that and proceeded to break back for 2-2*. Just saved a BP to stay on level terms in the second set.

Jay broken, 3-5*

The weight of points has certainly been on Rondoni's side in the second set but Jay had been keeping up on what matters more, winning games.

Jay breaks back to love *4-5

The number of multiple point momentum runs in the second set has been quite peculiar.

Jay breaks to 30 for *6-5.

At 30-0* he had won 10 points in row nearly matching Boldoni's earlier 11 in a row.

The momentum graph increasingly resembles a rather scary cycle tour stage profile.

It is Jay's 4th futures title and first one not on clay, though his India challenger runner-up spot is by far his biggest points haul.

In itself it should take him back up to the 240s in the rankings with a challenger still planned before the 02/04 rankings come out.

After that he only has 6 points due off before June so is in a very good position to make French Open qualifying.

Also should be comfortably into the top 150 in the race and as pointed to now provisionally GB #2 in the race.

Jay has obviously moved on significantly from last year, now dominating 25K futures fields probably needs another 75 points or so to make the top 200 as a teenager, Kyle squeezed in just before his 20th birthday and whether or not Jay manages it he is in a pretty similar ranks spot in relation to development.

He moved up about 1200 places in his first full calendar year on tour and then another 500 in his second all very impressive stuff. If he is not top 100 by the time he is 24 then Ill start worrying.

I agree this has been a very nice spell for Jay. And his progress in the last 18 months has been super.

But I'm not sure about 'now dominating 25k futures fields'.

This was a 15k. As was last week's. 

In fact, he's got himself slightly twixt and between - tried to move to Challengers and didn't have a lot of success (did great in India but got knocked out in R1 or before in the last three European ones). 

None of this really matters - his path is progressing very nicely. Everything looks very promising. But just to note....

Had busy week last week, so was unaware of what had happened, so I'm delighted to see Jay bagged the title. A good consistent three weeks in Qatar, very impressive.

Shame that Dino had tough draw, but just good to see him back out there, hope he is able to return to his best, though that's a big ask.
