Ah, that was a pleasant surprise to actually see a slight mprovenent in our women's average.
I'd provisionally been taking another net 50 points off Maia for her Shrewsbury 25K titke last year. But Steven had these points due off a week too early. Can't get the staff these days ( although I would put up with him trying again! )
The bad news now though is that Maia will drop 50 points next week.

Next week is looking glum (-27 at ptresent) unless Naiktha can do someting spectacular - not holding my breath. They have a 300 point gap to SVK - so should be safe.

Well Naiktha is trying. +32 on the week so far against Maia's -58. Will be good if Katie B can finally pick up a few wins again to announce she's back.. and Mandy has a chance next week to get the points that will bring her back into the GB top 10.
Looking at this list for the mens side, 15 of the top 18 nations appeared in the Davis Cup Finals last week (Slovakia, Czechia and Brazil didnt take part and Chile, Colombia and Kazakhstan did qualify), which is a pretty reasonable proxy to the best nations did in fact participate in the Davis Cup event, and we have a pretty good list here in terms of the rankings. Of the 4 semifinalists, 3 are those listed in places 10-12 in our list, Canada, Russia and GB, which suggests some of those above them have good top 10 strength in depth but when it comes to the top 1 or 2 players that can win an event of this sort, they were lacking at the very top level.
