Jaquelyn Ogunwale regains her ranking ahead of going back to college. With Aldershot points going big climbs for Hannah and Brooke but otherwise a fairly quiet week in ranking movements.
25/8/25 36 (-1) Emma Raducanu 48 (-) Katie Boulter 51 (-) Sonay Kartal 89 (-3) Fran Jones 144 (+4) Jodie Burrage 159 (+2) Heather Watson
The WTA live rankings and live 'race' figures are a bit of a mess, at least for the top players, on OER ( and have been for a number of days ). Well, assuming that players are not going to get their 2025 US Open points awarded twice.
Ciara Moore is a new entry at 1242 Alice Gillan is our biggest climber this week, up 38 and back into the top 500 Generally, we seem to have benefitted across the board from others dropping points with most of our women moving up quite a few places. Just 4 of our women outside of the GB top 10 fall in the rankings - 3 of them dropping points themselves.
Harriet drops out of the top 250 for the first time since March 2018, and with it potential grand slam qualifying entry. 3 drop out of the rankings: Gigi Hays who is currently injured with a fractured tibia, Eliz Maloney who focuses more on her University studies and Sarah Tatu who, like Matilda, has mysteriously disappeared off the scene having not been seen in a pro event since November.
Rose portrays her as a very hard-working girl who coaches a lot in order to pay for her tennis outgoings - all the best to her
And very pleased for Alice - I've lost on a lot, of course, but today is a big kerching day as she enters the top-500, from a bet taken about 6-7 years ago
Good to see Alice back in the top 500 after first entering in.May with.a CH 466 from 28/07
I didn't even see that !!!!
I've been away and on the move for all summer - haven't even checked the account because of access problems where I am - I just saw it here and thought that it was the first time ! Even though now it rings a distant bell ..... Lord, good news twice over - life doesn't get much better
Fran achieves another milestone, entering the top 75 for the first time. The college graduates Alicia Dudeney and Vic Allen make further climbs, up 67 and 50 places respectively
Sam Murray-Sharan drops her final counter and leaves the rankings
With Sonay's performance in Beijing ( moving her up 21 places to WR 60, we now have an unprecedented ( since? - not this century anyway if at all since rankings were established ) 4 women in the top 75.
30 - Emma 60 - Sonay 61 - Katie 75 - Fran
And in the latest 06/10 rankings we are one of only 4 countries with 4 or more players in the top 75.
Depth lower down is questionable but these are great times to be following our top women in general, however results may vary week to week and however they may still frustrate us at times.
