Having been moved to read this thread to catch up on Dan Cox history, I am now wondering if he still has the BMW that caused so much fuss 10 pages ago.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was only going to listen to part of it but found I had to listen to all of it. Can seems to be in a good place and I hope his comeback goes well.

Posted on twitter that he hit with Robin Hasse today. Appears to be training in Tenerife. Hopefully he can get his ranking back early in the new year. Bit of a challenge that, as the ITF qualifyings are stacked.

Somewhere on this forum is a post saying that Monastir? do pre qualifying for WCs the week before so that looks like a route in.

Congrats to Dan Cox, age 31, who won the Bath 25k ITF in mid-Jan and has now made a major jump in the rankings

ATP 639 (+242)

And a special mention in that we only have three male players over 30 who are currently playing singles in men's tennis - Andy, Evo and Dan.

(James Ward is still listed but has retired, and Brydan is listed but surely has retired (same for Neil Pauffley).

Our lack of over-30s in singles is scandalous (IMO) and a reflection of the lack of tennis industry in the UK.

So a big bravo to Dan. And here's hoping for a successful few years for him.

Brydan is down for an ITF in Australia next month.
Good to see Dan rising back up the rankings. With the mixture of tournaments we now have in the UK its good to have some experienced players. The sort of tests younger players coming through need.

As an update from the 31 Jan post above:

Further congrats to Dan, age 31, who is now back into the top-400, at ATP 384, following his two runners-up places in the 25ks in Nottingham

(He lost both finals 5-7 in the third - that's tough to take)

But this is someone who was unranked from November 2017 to May 2021 - three and a half years - that's a LONG time out of pro-life - and he's really making a determined move to give it another shot - and is now GB 11

Naa, he's useless. Just GB #12 and on the fall to GB #13 next Monday

Well, for those of us who can't count, he's most definitely GB #11 nobiggrin

Congrats to Dan, now age 32, who made the final of the Notts 25k last week (losing to Jules Marie in the final)

He'll be ranked about ATP 360 when those points go on

Making a great bid for a Wimbly Qualis WC - which would be wonderful

Dan's a gritty guy - lot of respect for him

That would be great if he can make it, although a Wimby qualies wild card surely would be something he could get, unless he is deemed too old??
