Great recovery. The serve needs serious work at one point but what a come back.

Looking forward to tomorrows match on Eurosport 2 now. Just wonder if he'll be fit for the doubles tonight. I hope he is - I'd love him and James to get to the next round in the doubles as well so that Andy can play Roddick and McEnroe in the one day.

No, the Roddick/Phau match is still to come.


Hells bells though, Andy still has a doubles match to play soon - he'll be shattered by the semis.


And Peter/David, a defibrillator is the machine that restarts the heart when it stops.  I can see I had better get hold of one.

No, but my money is that it will be Roddick!

Maybe another Federer style exhibition match! Where Andy loses but in fine style!

Fabulous comeback for Andy, definately one of the best wins of his career - he was playing so poorly at the start and there was a period when Soderling was really getting stuck into his 2nd serve but he came through it and got the win - true British grit

Match stats give:

Soderling 43 winners and 45 unforced errors - most of those on the forehand wing - that was really up and down tonight

Murray: 29 winners and 27 unforced errors

Defib? Hmmm... I'd best get one to deal with the Rat which pinches our tame non-hibernating Hedgehog called Herbie's food!!! Grrrr...... *LOL* Set on Max -Boost, it should do the trick!

I am so happy Andy won! I haven't been feeling too well, and this has helped make me feel a bit better at least.


However, does anyone think that him playing doubles as well might be more of a hindrance? Imean, wouldn't it have been better if he had a bit more rest before playing well, I assume A-Rod?

It was fantastic the way that whenever the chips were down eg: when Soderling went 3-1 up in set 2 and then Andy missed 2 break points - he still kept on fighting even though his head must have been bursting with frustration and got the reward - the hallmark of a true champion.

I agree it would be better not to play the doubles, I wonder if Andy might withdraw He'll be on a high right now and the adrenaline will be pumping but he must be physically and mentally exhausted after such a match. He's only got about 3 hours break before he's back on court.

If the doubles is also a marathon match, Andy's going to have nothing left for Roddick tomorrow.

I really hope that Murray pulls out of the doubles match. He's just had a 3 set match and for him at the moment, the semi-final match is much more important.

I agree, it'd be tough for poor James Auckland but the semi-finals of the singles is more important - there's big points at stake and I reckon he'll have a great chance against Roddick as Andy's not playing particularly well
